THE VILLAGE

In 1589, the priest and demonologist Peter Binsfeld linked each of the seven deadly sins to a demon, supposedly responsible for invoking evil in people.

 

From this starting point, Raphael Montes creates seven stories set in an isolated village, showcasing the slow degradation of its inhabitants, and how little by little the village itself is decimated, marred by snow and hunger. The stories can be read in any order without affecting comprehension, but they are intricately interconnected, so that at the end of the reading the narratives converge to a single, surprising conclusion.
