Raphael Montes was born in 1990 in Rio de Janeiro. He is the creator, head writer, and executive producer of the telenovela Scars of Beauty (Warner Bros. Discovery/HBO Max) and the series Good Morning, Veronica (Netflix), winner of the APCA 2020 award.
Author of eight novels, including Perfect Days, The Secret Dinner, and A Woman in the Dark (Jabuti Prize 2020), his books have been translated into more than 25 languages and adapted for film and television. In 2021, he founded Casa Montes , a production company focused on crime, suspense, and horror projects.
An only child, he grew up in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro and, as a teenager, moved to Copacabana—the main setting for his works years later. As a child, he received a copy of "A Study in Scarlet" by Arthur Conan Doyle, the first book in the acclaimed Sherlock Holmes detective series, from his great-aunt. It was from then on that Raphael fell in love with crime fiction.
